Overview

Madison Marquette Property Investments is looking for a Project Accountant to support the District Wharf Community Association. The Association is responsible for the operations and maintenance of this spectacular new waterfront city destination, a mile-long stretch along the Potomac River with restaurants, retailers, residences, and businesses.

 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Accounting of the District Wharf Community Association, (“DWCA”) and supporting the Executive Director of DWCA, the Project Accountant performs daily accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This position prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for DWCA and assists in preparation of the annual budget.

Responsibilities

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of DWCA’s activities and the Declaration of Covenants to support the appropriate and comprehensive reporting of all transactions; including but not limited to: kiosk lease administration, Park Mobile, public space bookings, vertical CAM billings, shared utility billings, water-side revenue generation, marketing and event costs, 3rd party vendor costs, and other operational costs.
  • Track and record all revenue streams; including resolving tenant and customer inquiries
  • Track and code all costs and invoices; including resolving vendor inquiries
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings with proper documentation and reporting
  • Coordinate monthly close processes with DWCA team
  • Assist in the preparation of actual vs. budget and forecasted results, including researching variances
  • Submit timely reports to Director of Accounting and Executive Director
  • Supports the annual budget process
  • Assists with analytical and process support to DWCA as needed
  • Assist with annual audit requirements and auditor information requests; including preparation of year-end schedules
  • Assist with year-end tax compliance, sales & use filings, and all legal and corporate filings for DWCA
  • Assist with weekly cash management reporting and cash flow projections
  • Assist in the administration of the Association’s impairment and loss-prevention programs; as well as tracking Fixed Assets
  • Other related duties and other DWCA event team responsibilities as requested to support the ongoing DWCA event programming

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Interacts closely with property accounting team members, property management group, portfolio accounting team members, asset management group, finance and operational executives as well as parent company finance teams.

Qualifications

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • High proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Strong organization skills and calendar management
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive problem solver with ability to work independently to achieve results
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Understanding of automated accounting systems (Experience with MRI is highly preferred)
  • High degree of professionalism when responding to inquiries

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting
  • Real Estate accounting background highly preferred
  • Corporate accounting background is highly preferred
